Doggie Diamonds Interviews St.Laz 7/20/09

Now before some of you say, “who”? Google St. laz… You finished? Ok, now you understand why I’m interviewing this man. And if you’re really in tuned with the ForbezDVD movement you would know this isn’t our first interview. The importance of someone like St.Laz is his passion. And no, I don’t mean the passion of someone wanting new sneakers, the flying whips, some new jewelry, chasing the baddest bitch or being a crying sucker. I mean the passion of the MUSIC, the passion of someone living how they spitting. St. Laz is my brother, my comrade and a friend and I would be doing the hip-hop community a disservice if I didn’t help him spread his message.
Peace
Doggie Diamonds
Introduce yourself to the people.
st.laz:st.laz,pottersfield,brownsville brooklyn,hip-hop legend in the making.
Why the name St. Laz?
st.laz:st.lazarus is the saint that poor people pray to,I come from a real impovershed hood and have a poor family background so i understand poor people,i totally relate and wanna help. im hoping i can do that with this music.
So tell the people about your movement.
New industry is the movement, the goal is to eventually create a whole new industry of rappers, producers, singers, djs, video directors etc.everybody is tired of this wack ass game and the wack ass rappers or so called artist thats in it,a major change is needed.
So in your opinion, what’s wrong with the music business now?
its a serious lack of respect for the culture and art form, dudes are making hip-hop dumb, the crusade is coming.Dudes think its cool to be stupid, its 2009,its alot of crazy shit going on in the world, its amazing how blind deaf and dumb these rappers still are and the ones on top aint doing shit to change it,we need a new leader.
You’ve experienced a lot of success on the independent scene, are you willing to sign to a major?
i got so many homies in jail and in the hood starving, doing crimes to survive,so many dudes i know is dying i will do whatever it takes to put a stop to it,if i gotta run with a major to get this whole shit off the ground i will, its bigger than me,its life or death.
In every interview you do you seem passionate about your music, do you think that scares people?
well you know people are scared of change, like i said before, dudes think its cool to be dumb so when they hear or see a dude thats fired up and and serious about this rap shit,it is scary to them.
So musically. who and what does St.Laz listen to?
man i listen to lite fm,James brown,Hall & Oats,Betty Wright, the Bee Gees, old school classic hip-hop,dudes like Easy E, Rob base,Kane,Mc eiht shit like that,i very rarely listen to the garbage on the radio, its depressing seriously.
What artist dead or alive do you wish you could do a record with?
i definately woulda did somthing with Half-a-mil,Pac & BIG of course,Nas,Cee-lo,Lauren Hill,True artist not fake rappers that have ghost writers.
How many projects have you put out in your career?
i probably dropped like 20 official St.laz mmixtapes,i just did a album strictly digitally distributed available on itunes july 24th 09.
What are you working on next?
im soon to do 3 new videos for 3 great songs “straight from brooklyn,my dead man phone number and bury me in brooklyn” feat. my cousin Val-Don.
