Doggie Diamonds Interviews Boom P.

So I was watching this Smack DVD one day and out of no where appears this kid rhyming like no one I’ve heard in years. So my initial reaction was like, “yo, who the fuck is that?” Then I noticed the area and I’m like. “that’s the hood right there”. So less than a week later I’m the car with my partner M.Reck and I’m like, “let’s go get one of those banging Marcus Garvey heros (sandwich)”. While we’re riding down the block, I’m thinking, this is where that kid Boom P was at in that video. We pull up to the store and guess who’s standing right on the corner? Boom P… I hop out the car and straight up tell him (Boom P) he’s going to live a long time because we was just talking about him. We exchanged numbers, played phone tag for a few years (literally) and here we are today...
Introduce Yourself To The People
go by the name Boom P. (short for Boom Pacino)
Why The name Boom Pacino?
Boom is a childhood nickname, and Pacino is a last name I added. I don’t use Pacino that much anymore when i’m rhymin’, but some niggas still call me Pacino, it’s all good.
Let The People Know Where They Might Know You From?
I been on a couple dvd’s… SMACK, Cutmaster C. True Stories, All Access, just to name a few. I been on some mixtapes too. I also collaborate with a few artists… Uncle Murda, Joel Ortiz, Math Hoffa, Liason, and a few other artists.
With Everyone Saying Hip Hop Is Dead, What Inspires You To Record?
The underdogs. I think all the good music is in the streets. I’m not inspired by the rap game right now because you could tell by just listening to alot of these niggas that they ain’t got no love for the music. I’ll never knock the next nigga hustle but the only thing that
inspire me with the rap game is the money. That’s it.
You’re Known For Being A Lyricist. Are You Afraid Sometimes You Might Go Over Peoples Head?
Nah.. I try to cater to more than just the hood, even though i love the fact that the hood got the most toughest critics, that shit keep a nigga on his toes.
Lyrically, Sound and Content You Get Compared To A Giant Nas, How Do U Feel About That
It’s cool i guess. I don’t really think about that.
Why Does The Fans Need An Artist Like Boom P?
I’m tryin’ to keep that real hip hop shit alive. All my shit is from the heart whether you agree with it or not.
Do You Have Any Pressure On You Being A Brooklyn MC With Some Of The Greats Coming From BK?
No pressure at all. I’m glad I’m from Brooklyn, that shit motivates me. The best rappers came out of Brooklyn. I’m even more proud to be from Bed Stuy.”
What’s The Next Project You’re Working On?
I’m workin’ on a new mixtape called The Autobiography. I’m also workin’ on a mixtape with my team, i got a ill crew of niggas.”
How Can The Fans Stay In Contact With You?
