A woman gives birth to a 19 pound baby. That statement sounds like something befitting of the pages of a tabloid, but it’s true. An Indonesian woman gave birth to a 19 pound baby, according to reports from Daily Express.

Whenever a woman gives birth to a 19 pound baby, the media is going to jump all over the story. After all, a normal baby should weigh between “6 pounds, 2 ounces (2,812 grams) and 9 pounds, 2 ounces (4,173 grams)”, according to Kidshealth.org.

This means that when a woman gives birth to a 19 pound baby, she is bringing into the world a baby that is over twice the weight of a baby at the high end of the baby weight spectrum.

Obviously whenever a woman gives birth to a 19 pound baby, the baby is delivered via C-section. This is where a doctor surgically removes the baby from the mother’s womb. The case of the 19 pound baby from Indonesia is no exception.

Just like delivering a baby through the natural way, a C-section on a 19 pound baby is difficult. The surgeon is quoted by the Daily Express as saying “This heavy baby made the surgery really tough, especially the process of taking him of his mum’s womb. His legs were so big.”

No kidding.

What happens when a woman gives birth to a 19 pound baby? The doctor states that what most likely happened in this case was that the mother had diabetes, which meant that the baby got more glucose than necessary. This caused the baby to gain more weight.

Whenever a woman gives birth to a 19 pound baby, it’s not healthy for her or the infant. Already, the baby is twice the size of the average baby.

You may think that this 19 pound baby is the biggest baby ever to be born. This is not the case. According to PregnancyAndBaby.com, the world’s largest baby to ever be born was born to a Canadian mother. This baby was 23 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 30 inches long. The baby was born in the 1800’s and died shortly after birth.

The world’s largest healthy baby was born in 1955 to an Italian woman. This baby was 22 pounds 8 ounces.

What do all three of these mammoth babies have in common? They were all boys.
