Secret Service Spokesman Ed Donovan tells CBS News that an employee of a private security firm was alleged to have made threatening comments against President Obama yesterday.

The employee denies it. But nevertheless, he was taken into custody — charged with local violation of terrorist threat laws by police from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Federal charges are being weighed.

The Secret Service is not disclosing individual’s name.

The man consented to search of his residence. Firearms were found, but all appear to be legally owned.

The Secret Service is working with Port Authority police on the case. Donovan adds that the suspect has no affiliation past or present with the New Jersey state police
