Priest Tells Congregation To Shoplift

A British priest has caused an outrage by encouraging people to shoplift to feed their families.
Tim Jones reportedly told his congregation that it’s okay to steal sometimes as long as people do it at large national chain stores rather than small family businesses.
Jones reportedly said in a recent sermon that shoplifting can be justified if a person in real need is not greedy and doesn’t take more than they need.
Jones’ remarks has been met with rebukes by fellow clergy, shop owners and of course, police.
Jones says he stands by his remarks and says he is just trying to address the point that “when we shut down every socially acceptable avenue for people in need, then the only avenue left is the socially unacceptable one.”
Police say people in need should turn to charitable organizations and government agencies rather than taking matters into their own hands.
