Jay-Z Free Show In New York Cancelled Over Security Concerns

A surprise Jay-Z concert in New York has reportedly been cancelled after threats of overcrowding forced officials to abandon the idea.
The hip-hop mogul was said to be planning a one-off free gig outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre during the city’s rush hour earlier this week. However, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting was forced to cancel the show after news of it leaked and thousands had planned to turn up.
The Daily Swarm quotes a spokesperson for the film department as saying: “There was discussion of a concert, and ultimately it was decided there would be no permit.
“Many permits are granted on the condition that the event is not made public beforehand for capacity and security reasons. This event was made public.”
The news comes days after Drake’s free concert in the city was cancelled due to severe overcrowding.
