WINCHESTER — A 20-year-old Ridgeville woman has been accused of overpowering and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.

Shandi R. Reed, 106 E. Second St., was arrested Sunday on preliminary counts of criminal deviate conduct, a Class B felony carrying a standard 10-year prison term; sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class C felony with a standard four-year sentence, and an unrelated count of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

According to court documents, Reed took three boys to her home on May 15 after inviting them to “ride her scooter.”

Reed and her alleged victim rode the scooter to the community of Deerfield and back, then returned to her home, where the boy reported Reed climbed on top of him and engaged in a sex act against his will.

The teen told police “he tried to push Shandi away, but she was much bigger than him and he could not move her,” a probable cause affidavit said.

When the other two boys returned to her house, Reed boasted of having engaged in the sex act with their friend, the document indicated.

The alleged victim was later examined at an area hospital.

Questioned by Sgt. Art Moystner of the Randolph County sheriff’s department on May 16, Reed at first denied the allegations and “threatened to go after the people who said this.”

In a phone message left the following day, Moystner reported, Reed admitted she engaged in the sex act with the boy, with whom she had been previously acquainted. However, she maintained she believed the alleged victim was 18, adding that she was “disgusted” when she found out he was actually three years younger.

Reed was arrested by Winchester police Sunday after they received a report of a fight in that city’s Morton Hill Park.

Officers reported finding no fight, but said Reed “began yelling, cursing and threatening” another visitor to the park, who told police the Ridgeville woman had earlier threatened to break an 8-year-old boy’s hand.

When she was arrested, Reed also threatened to sue the officers, reports said.

Reed was already set to stand trial June 1 on charges of resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct filed March 14 in Randolph Superior Court. She also faces a battery charge filed last month in Jay Superior Court.

An initial hearing on the most recent charges is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in Randolph Circuit Court.
