For Trips, rapping wasn’t always his first choice.

“I wasn’t really trying to rap at first. I was really trying to be a deejay,” he said. “I didn’t have no plans on rapping.”

But as the Harlem duo got older, they decided to take rapping seriously.

Nearly 10 years later, Slim and Trips – known collectively as Square Off – released their first album on the Internet last week, “Money, Moet & Memories.”

The project was something they did on their own without much assistance from their famous dad.

“We don’t got it easy at all,” said Trips. “We had to grind in this from the bottom, and we’re still grinding.”
