5-Year-Old Boy Dies After TELEVISION SET Falls On His Head
PHOENIX – Police shared more details in how a 5-year-old boy died after a television fell on top of him in Phoenix.
Isaiah Hernandez died Monday afternoon after a large television fell on top of him at a home near McDowell Road and 35th Avenue, according to Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump.
Police said Isaiah was alone in his room for about two hours watching a TV show on a large older-style television that weighed approximately 165 pounds.
The television was reportedly sitting on top of a small nightstand.
Around lunch time, Isaiah’s family went to check on him and found that the TV had fallen off the nightstand onto Isaiah.
When police and fire crews arrived, the family was performing CPR on their son, but he was not responding.
Isaiah was taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where he died due to his injuries.
According to police, Isaiah’s mother said he would watch TV on the floor in front of the television.
She added that the remote had recently gone missing, so Isaiah used the controls at the bottom of the television to change the settings.
The family has set up an account for donations to help pay for the funeral expenses at Wells Fargo. The account number is 1690938699 and donations can be made to the Isaiah Hernandez Memorial account.
Police said there are no prior incidents or reports of this kind involving the family. The investigation is still ongoing.
