LOS ANGELES – Before he launched into “Check the Rhime,” lyrical hip-hop master Phife Dawg paused on stage for a kiss. It wasn’t from his wife or even an adoring A Tribe Called Quest fan in the audience. No, the Five Foot Assassin leaned over to smooch a three-foot-tall Grammy statue before launching into his “funky introduction of how nice I am.”

The 2011 Grammy nominees were announced tonight. Hip-hop was heavy on the award nominees this year! Congrats to Nicki Minaj, B.o.B, and Tyga on their first nominations!!! Eminem got the most with 10. Rihanna, Jay, Bey, Drizzy, Kanye and more are all in there as well, plus more. Congrats to all and good luck!
