5. AIDS Origin Theories
Despite scientific evidence that HIV and AIDS evolved from a disease found in monkeys called Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV), there are numerous fringe theories regarding the “real” origins of the deadly virus. The most ridiculous of these theories states that HIV was created by the CIA in a laboratory and has been used intentionally to decrease the black, Hispanic and homosexual populations in America.
4. Global Warming Hoax
There is plenty of scientific evidence proving that the rise in Earth’s temperature since the 1950s is unprecedented over millennia, yet many people believe that global warming is a hoax. These people tend to believe that the science behind global warming has been invented or distorted for both ideological and financial reasons. The effects of global warming that have been proven by science apparently aren’t enough to convince people it’s not one big conspiracy.
3. Moon Doesn’t Exist
It’s one thing to believe that the moon landing was staged, but it’s a completely different level of bizarre if you think that the moon itself doesn’t exist. You know that celestial object that you can clearly see at night, the one that controls the ocean tides here on Earth… Yeah that moon! Most theories involve aliens doing sketchy things to trick us, or that the government is simply projecting a hologram in the sky… Because yeah, that would be incredibly simple to do!
2. 9/11 Staged
It’s tough to fathom that the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 could be carried out by the US government, but the conspiracy theory is out there. Some say that the collapse of the Twin Towers was caused by a controlled demolition and that the pentagon was hit by a missile launched by the government. Most conspiracy theories surmise that these planned attacks were done to justify going to war with Afghanistan and Iraq.
1. Holocaust Deniers
There are some people that believe World War II was staged or didn’t happen, but there is even a crazier subset that deny the Holocaust. Some people, even when faced with evidence, refuse to believe that the Nazi party did nothing more than deport Jews out of the Reich and that they never used extermination camps and thus didn’t mass murder around six million people. They claim the Holocaust is a hocrax and a conspiracy, aimed at advancing Jewish interests.
