Don Lemon to #BlackLivesMatter Organizer: You Can’t Affect Change by Just ‘Yelling’. CNN’s Don Lemon pressed a #BlackLivesMatter organizer tonight on exactly how they plan on affecting change other than “yelling.” He pointed to how the DNC officially passed a resolution in support of the movement, but then they rejected it.
He told St. Louis organizer Rashad Turner that protesting is important, and so is their message, but at the end of the day, as Hillary Clinton said when she met #BlackLivesMatter activists, the best way to affect change is through legislation.
Turner said the endgame for him and everyone else in the movement is to stop the killing, but Lemon asked, “How does that happen without legislation? Without being involved in the political or legislative process? It doesn’t just happen from yelling.”
Turner went off on politicians in general for not understanding the full historical context of the problem and said there are policy proposals out there.
