A Florida woman has been caught on camera teaching a young girl – believed to be her daughter – how to steal tequila from a liquor store.
The shoplifting scene was captured by surveillance video cameras at 24/7 Liquors in Pembroke Park one afternoon last week.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office estimate the girl is seven years old. She and her ‘mom’ have not been identified and no arrests have been made.
In the video, the woman can be seen walking down the aisle with the girl and showing her which bottle of tequila she wants.
The little girl does her best to oblige but the bottle of booze proves too heavy for her.
After making her way down the aisle to tell the woman about the problem, the little girl comes back and selects a smaller 750ml bottle of 1800 Silver Tequila.
She then heads to the front of the store with the bottle behind her back and darts out the door while the woman stands in the way and prevents store clerks from seeing what is going on.
Other customers then approached the clerks to tell them what happened – and a confrontation with the woman ensues.
She leaves the store and heads out to her white Chevrolet Impala before coming back in and telling the clerks the girl had not taken anything.
The woman bought a $2 bottle of liquor, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The store owner said it was ‘very, very sad that the mother did that’, WSVN reported.
Broward County detectives are looking for ‘a black female with black hair who wore a grey tank dress and sandals’ and has tattoos ‘high on her shoulders or upper back area’.
