According to Reuters, new evidence shows that John & Johnson has been aware that their talc contained asbestos since 1971. In an examination of documents from the company, as well as depositions and trial testimony, investigators were able to determine that from at least 1971 to the early 2000s, the company’s raw talc and finished powders at times, tested positive for small amounts of asbestos, and that company executives, scientists, and lawyers failed to disclose the information to regulators or the public. The World Health Organization says there is no safe level of exposure to asbestos.
