Mother k.i.l.l.e.d son, 8, when he found out about her affair with his grandfather
A mother has been ja.i.l.e.d for 30 years after she m.u.r.d.e.red her son when he discovered she was having an affair with his grandfather.
Veronica Panarello strangled her son Loris Stival with electrical cables then abandoned his body in a remote gully in Santa Croce, Sicily.
She then told police that he had been abducted, saying that she had taken him to school and he had disa.p.peared by the time she went back to get him in the afternoon.
However, CCTV footage from the school proved that she had not dr. o.pped him off that day and police started treating her as a suspect.
She was found guilty of Loris’s m.u.r.d.e.r and of concealing a body, despite continuing to deny the m.u.r.d.e.r even when the sentence was passed.
Prosecutors branded her an ‘egocentric, manipulative liar.’
When Panarello confessed that her son had been k.i.l.l.ed in November 2014, she blamed her husband’s father Andrea Stival.
She told an earlier hearing that he had helped to plot and then carried out the m.u.r.d.e.r because Loris had caught them having s.e.x.
Stival is being investigated as an accessory to m.u.r.d.e.r, according to Italian media.
He has denied the claim and is threate.ning to sue his daughter-in-law for sla.nder, it has emer.ged.
Her husband has now filed for div.orce.
