The New York Police Department’s special victims unit has opened an investigation into Russell Simmons. The move comes after at least 11 accusations of sexual misconduct were reported against Simmons — seven of which allegedly happened in New York City. Brad Rose, an attorney for the music mogul, said Thursday that “Simmons fully supports and will cooperate with the police inquiry and is confident of a swift resolution.” The 60-year-old Simmons, who cofounded the legendary Def Jam Records label, stepped down from all his companies last month. He has vehemently denied all the allegations and is vowing to fight back against the claims.
